Teacher's Artifacts
This assignment is a review assignment that is aligned with the Common Core standards. This allowed students to explain their work by using DOK 2 and DOK 3 strategies to demonstrate their mastery of our vocabulary words. Students enjoyed this assignment because it allowed them to work together and reteach vocabulary to their peers.
Allowing students to choose their own assignments is a great way to teach them responsibity while also keeping you in control of their learning and performance task. Fun and engaging assignment and a great performance task!
As Social Studies teachers, we can no longer simply teach our content. We are now Reading teachers and I try to incorporate as much reading and writing into my lessons to prepare my students for the new Georgia Milestone Assessment test. This assignement combines Social Studies with Reading and Writing. This artifact is a Bio-poem. This is a bio-poem I created on Montezuma II to show as an example. Enjoy!
This assignment is a project based artifact that allowed students to explore European Explorers of Latin American while requiring them to use high level thinking in completing the assignments. I allowed students to work together but every student had to turn in their own individual artifact.
